Saturday at the Penn Relays
The most exciting performance on
Saturday, without a doubt, was Usain
Bolt's anchor leg of the Jamaican 4x100 team in the "USA vs. the World" event. The statisticians clocked Bolt's split at 8.79 seconds for his 100m, which is quite a bit faster than his world record of 9.58 in the 100m dash. As usual, the Jamaican fans were out in force at the relays, but when Bolt came out the crowd went wild. Usually in the USA vs. the world races the crowd chants "U-S-A! U-S-A!" But this year there were so many people chanting for both teams it sounded like the crowd was chanting "U-MAIC-A! U-MAIC-A!"

Bolt took the handoff from Marvin Anderson and was off.
The Jamaican fans in the crowd went wild, and Bolt's team, the Jamaica Gold team, beat out both the USA Blue and USA Red teams.
Bolt rallied the crowd in his solo victory lap with a jam-packed Franklin Field. 54, 310 were in attendance, which is a new record for the relays.
