Back on February 26th, American Repertory Ballet held the world premiere of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the State Theater New Jersey in New Brunswick. American Repertory Ballet Artistic Director, Douglas Martin, created a brand new choreography for this performance, set to Mendelssohn’s First Symphony for the first act and Mendelssohn’s traditional score for A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the second act. ARB’s new take on this Shakespearean comedy also featured brand new costumes and the Rugters Symphony Orchestra.

Jesse North and I went behind the scenes to American Repertory Ballet’s studios in Princeton to talk with artistic directory, Douglas Martin, and two ballet dancers: Karen Leslie Moscato (“Titania”) and Mattia Pallozzi (“Theseus”). We also got to shoot a rehearsal to get a taste of ARB’s brand new ballet. It was pretty incredible.

We produced this short video feature on ARB’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for JerseyArts.com.
