Boheme Opera New Jersey strives to preserve and promote the art form of opera and bring it to audiences who have little experience with opera. Since 1981 Boheme Opera New Jersey has held educational programs and staged full scale productions. This spring Boheme Opera NJ put on a production of Puccini’s famous La Boheme. Jesse North and I went out to Hightstown, NJ for a rehearsal for La Boheme. We caught up with stage director Eric Gibson and opera singers Eric Dubin (Marcello) and Sungji Kim (Musetta) to talk about the upcoming performance. In an effort to make the classic opera more accessible for everyday audiences, Gibson and Boheme Opera NJ, decided to set their rendition in modern times. Boheme Opera NJ performed La Boheme on April 24 and 26 at the Kendall Main Stage Theater at The College of New Jersey Center for the Arts. Jesse and I produced this video feature for JerseyArts.com.
