WheatonArts and Cultural Center is an artistic community in Millville, New Jersey that was founded in 1968. In addition to offering residencies to active artists WheatonArts houses the most comprehensive collection of American produced glass. Since 1985, WheatonArts has held its biennial Glass Weekend, a celebration of all things glass. Visitors can tour The Museum of American Glass, as well as watch glass blowing in-action. Glass Weekend 2015 will take place June 12-14, and will also include two new glass exhibitions: “Emanation: Art + Process” and “Creativity Ascertained: The Art of the Fellowship”. Glass Weekend will bring world-class artists and glassblowers together for the public to meet and see in action.

Jesse North and I went to Millville last weekend to get a preview of what is in store this year at Glass Weekend. We spoke with Kristin Qualls, the Director of Exhibitions and Collections about the exhibitions opening this weekend. We also spoke with Hank Adams about one of the works that WheatonArts is collaborating on with artist Michael Oatman, that will be a part of the “Emanation: Art + Process” exhibition. And we got to hang around the glass studio and check out the artists at work.
